Now it seems the activity is being executed in isolation. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, you want to do your experimentation away from the main business, but at some point you need to get serious and figure out how SM fits in.

My second prediction is that the bloom will fade and Social Media will stop being the new shiny thing. Again, this isn't a bad thing. With less attention practitioners can focus on how to make this new communication channel a valid and viable part of marketing strategy.

Re: Social Media in 2010?

Well first off... i'm going to make sure to catch yall shows on Blog Talk Radio!

What is going to be one of the major changes in 2010. I think one of the biggest is going to be filtering. We thought there was alot of noise?!?! We haven't seen anything yet. With SO many different ways to produce content, someone has to help sift through the good and the bad. Companies will pop-up to be that medium. We can't get rid of the middle man in this context.

Kelsi Guidry
SocialWants.com

Re: Rankings Schmankings-Who ARE You?

In a perfect world ranking sites will be useful as data gathering tools and beyond all this silliness.

Re: Rankings Schmankings-Who ARE You?

Rankings are meaningless, indeed. Thanks for reinforcing my thoughts at http://ariwriter.com/curious-why-twitter-rank-i... and for mentioning a tool like Klout, which I agree has more potential than a mere Hubspot ranker. I've followed Klout's clout in recent months and it has potential.

Re: Socialize Your E-learning Content

Janet, I did not expect you on the panel since you did not make it on the program, but I am very happy I came to the panel. The more interconnected social networks are the better. I, too, have been trying to sort through all the hype about Twitter lists. With the features in Tweetdeck, PeopleBrowser, Seesmic, and other apps, I still don't quite get what's so new about lists. I also agree about the personal aspect of following folks directly. That's where the really interesting things about Twitter happen. My 2 cents FWIW!

Re: Are Tweedledee and Tweedledum on Your Twitter List?

Hey! How else are you promoting it? Have you sent it out to your email list to get them to sign on? Shared details with clients or asked co-workers to help spread the news on their networks? At least them you'd have an opportunity to reach them and their networks.

In addition your Twitter presence is very new and most of the posts are promotional so you might start thinking of other ways to engage the user base you want to attract. Do some blog and Twitter surfing to find people who need your products and are blogging about things you can discuss. You don't have to agree with them, the point is to add value to the conversation.
Then they look at your profile and ohhh! there's a contest!

Re: Social media contests-inexpensive marketing at it’s best?

I've been running a contest with two chances to win $500 in promotional products. I've only got a few days left, and I haven't had much response (especially on Twitter).. Any ideas?

I am really stuck on how to promote it, and nothing I've done has worked. Trying to scramble the last few days here to get some interest.

Contest details here: http://blog.powertexgroup.com

Re: The FaceBookization of Twitter has begun

I agree I use facebook and twitter in very different ways.
